Thanks Renee! I teach a middle school (6-8) art elective, and I'd like to
make it a bit more open-ended this year. I think I'd like to go with a more
theme-based concept.

Subject: [teacherartexchange] Themes for units

Lydia, List of themes we have done this year. The kids come up with some and
I and my fellow teaching buddy come up with some. Places to travel to.
Design a house for an obscure Dr. Seuss character, Teen concerns such as
clicks, relationships with family, parents, friends, boy/girl, teen suicide,
bullying, teen pregnancy, wind, fire, water, character traits, overcoming
bad choices, the masks we wear and who we really are, healthy choices,
faith, future dreams.....that is a few that I can think of at the moment.
They are always evolving and we brainstorm often in small group then pull it
into whole class discussion.
