[teacherartexchange] Old Home Week!

Guess I4ll chime in, too. It4s so good to see old--oops!--VETERAN listers
back. Sometimes I look back in the Getty archives and see so many regulars4
names who dropped out a long time ago. Those were the days we were getting 30
or more messages every day.

I still love teaching here in Quito. We are wrapping things up this week,
then we have two months off. I4m already looking forward to next year. What
a great way to feel. I4m glad I didn4t get the 9-10 art position which I had
originally applied for--the art room isn4t very well-equipped and they only
meet every 3-4 days. The young woman who did get it did a wonderful job with
some ornery students who didn4t take art very seriously, but she will teach
10th grade English next year. I spent some time in the 7-8 grade art room and
the stuff they produce is very...decorative--basically, using markers to
create patterns within big photocopied outlines of butterflies and flowers in
vases and clowns. It was no wonder they balked at any real art content in 9th
and 10th.

I read the posts every day, but haven4t had much to contribute lately. It4s
hard to believe I haven4t taught art in four years.
