Hi All,
I sent the NAEA link just as an FYI in case some people had not read it. I was not trying to squash the discussion.
I personally in my two schools do not do contests at all.
Just my opinion. I hated that the art got trashed, and that it ate up curriculum time. I see the kids little enough as it is !! I try to teach them to value their artwork, and that everyone has their own style.
Not all of their art on first glance is stunning,
but when you take in how far they have come, and how hard they try and the story behind it, therein lies the priceless value !!!! Just like all art, sometimes you have to know xome background to find true appreciation.

With your permission I can share this "NAEA (what it's lacking)" discussion with the new director, as I will be seeing her in late June at the Team East retreat. I do know that they will value your opinions, members or not.

Let me know,
Christine Besack :)
