One book you might consider is really based on a college course at the
School of Visual Arts. The book, Visual Literacy, by Richard and Judith
Wilde has some interesting design problems that can be applied to any grade.
It is not a textbook though.

I am a first time art teacher... just graduated from college. In addition to
teaching introductory art courses, I will be teaching graphic design at a
high school in northern New Jersey. I have been asked to find and select a
textbook for this new graphic design course but I am having difficulty
finding any! If anyone has any suggestions for high school graphic design
text books or places I should look/contact, please let me know. Thank you!
