Art 101 is Art Appreciation/Art History at the college level. When I did it
through distance learning it was live and was broadcast to three to four other
campuses around the state. The equipment was state of the art and it was
easy to demonstrate and show tangible examples as well as "slides" of artwork.
It was interactive and we had some lively discussions.
My online course is not live. But we still have some interesting and
engaging discussions via the discussion board. I give them assignments that get them
out to galleries and museums in their area. If possible we meet somewhere
during the semester for coffee and to get acquainted.
Right now I am teaching on campus in a smart classroom that has some of the
same equipment that I had in the distance learning "cockpit". It is really
nice not to have to fight with slide projectors/vcr's anymore.
