RE: James Joyce

I've made plenty of pieces of art without thinking of an audience. IT's
what happens when you open yourself fully to whatever might happen in
the process. Sort of like channeling. The process of being totally
open seems to me to preclude the inclusion of a possible audience at the
time of creation. That would be pretty far down the line for me. Maybe
that's why I'm not a rich artist!! I could definitely use some
marketing genes. But when I'm looking at commercial art, I always
gravitate to the pieces that seem "pure" of marketing frenzy in their
creation. When I am in my studio playing around, the best things
happen. WHen I go in with an audience in mind, it just isn't the same.
