Batik/Cold water tie dye

Date: Wed Jun 11 2003 - 20:16:58 PDT

I am getting ready for a summer camp Monday and I am so tired from trying to
figure this out that I thought I'd ask you folks.
I have Createx cold wax resist.
I want to put it on in different designs on 50/50 t-shirts (I know it will
be duller) but it was all I could afford.
So I have these dylon disks of color.
I mix one with the fix powder in HOW MUCH water???? if I want to put it in
spray bottles etc.
All my searches tell me how to dye the whole piece of fabric in a medium size
bowl but it doesn't tell me how many shirts only the wieght. And it doesn't
tell me how much dye one tin can make.. One spray bottle full, two???
And I have these liquid and powder rit dyes. They can only be used with hot
water right??? So that wouldn't work with my batiking with the cold water
wax resist.
Somewhere I read cold would work. Anyone know?
Then I have leftover Jaquard dies from a kit that were not used up. Will
they work also if I fix the shirts in soda ash even though it's been 6 months
or so? And will the Soda ash affect my dylon/powder fix mixture?
Anyone have any comments, I'd love to hear them.
Thank you Judy for your hard work on the Masks.
I am doing plaster masks, etc for the camp and am loving all you are finding
