I have to say that the beauty of this getty list is that one does not feel
that loneliness that you describe. It definitely 'scratches me where I itch.'
I teach hs and have developed my drawing curriculum around the question they
were always asking, 'If my 2 year old brother can paint that well, why is it
in the museum?' My painting class is an answer to their proverbial question,
'I want to express myself but don't know how to begin.' I used to have 70
minute classes but they are shorter now. With your 90 minutes I would
definitely aim to inspire them with some kind of direct teaching or
discussion that involves imagery during the first 20 minutes. My experience
has been that they really want to know about everything you know. You still
have plenty of time for studio and cleanup after that.
