Immersion in the Arts: Creative Ways to Apply the Standards
This IAAE 2002 Fine Arts Conference is being held in Chicago at Gallery 37
Center for the Arts on Thursday, July 18, 2002. This is an excellent
opportunity for dance, drama, music, and art educators, generalist teachers,
and school administrators to participate in a hands-on professional
development workshop. The conference will focus on creative ways to apply
the fine arts standards in the classroom through Immersion Laboratories.
Teachers are eligible for 1 CEU credit.
Space is limited. Participants may reserve their preferred workshop session
by calling 312/750-0589. The registration deadline is July 3, 2002.

Dr. Douglas Boughton
Professor, School of Art, Northern Illinois University
Dr. Boughton is an international expert in art assessment and program
evaluation. He will be speaking on imaginative ways to approach assessment,
such as digital portfolios.
IMMERSION LABORATORY I
Choose one of the Art, Music, Dance, or Drama laboratories at the Elementary
or Secondary level. Although content area based, each laboratory will be
applicable for educators of all disciplines. This experience will expand
understanding of the connection between the standards, assessment, and what
occurs in the classroom.
