From many years at commercial art, comping is magic marker compositions
showing layout of the pictures and the text beside it. The company thats
buying the brochure, book, etc. will see a marker layout of where the
pictures will be and were the text and headline will be. Its not the actual
pictures and text that he will see but a dummy copy.
Its important for the company to see a dummy copy to make changes in
pictures and emphasis with the text, before it goes to print. Dummy brochures
are magic marker comps folded exactly as the original will be printed. I hope
