Dear Members, Donors, Funders and Friends -
You are invited to:
IAA/F ANNUAL MEETING
Monday, June 17, 2002 at 4 PM
at the Goodman Theatre
170 N. Dearborn Chicago, IL
Featured speaker: John Kriedler, executive director at Cultural
Initiatives of Silicon Valley
Evolution of Leadership in the American Arts: Where It Has Come From and
Where It Is Going?
What is the present condition of national leadership in the arts?
If leadership is not being exercised at the national level, what measures
should be taken to advance leadership at the metropolitan level?
What case can be made for public support of the arts in Illinois?
John Kreidler will provide energetic answers to these and more concerns. Mr.
Kreidler serves as Executive Director of Cultural Initiatives of Silicon
Valley: a funding and advocacy organization focused on improvements in
public school arts education and development of business and civic
leadership supportive of the arts. For two decades prior to this assignment,
Mr. Kreidler worked for the San Francisco Foundation as Senior Program
Executive for the Arts and Humanities. While in this position, he wrote an
article, "Leverage Lost: The Nonprofit Arts in the Post-Ford Era", which
described the evolution of national arts policy leadership and that has had
a significant impact on future assessment of leadership in the field. Mr.
Kreidler holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the
University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters Degree in Public
Administration from Berkeley.
