Thank you for the post. I remember as a small child, practicing for a nuclear
attack. We hid under our desks. Of course, as adults now, we know that
nothing will protect you from a direct hit. I remember the fear and
uncertainess provoked by the mention of nuclear weapons and I feel sad that
the children in India and Pakistan have to endure that same fear.
I was so happy when many nations began dismantling their weapons. I wish all
cultures everywhere could see how important it is to get rid of these
weapons. I know it's in human nature to dominate and hope that one day, all
cultures will mature and learn to live together. I was hopeful it would
happen in my lifetime, but now it doesn't look possible. I just plug along
and try to find beauty and peace in my part of the world and encourage those
around me to find it also. Janet
