Larry-
I will give you my personal definition. Art is a means of
communication and
expression through various media. It is a way of interpreting what you see,
taste, touch, feel, hear, think, experience and dream. It involves the inner
and outer world of the senses and a personal need to communicate and/or
create or recreate what one needs to express. It can be for an audience of
one or many. It brings pleasure and gives pleasure. It can express anguish
and cause pain or anger. An artist is driven by the need to create as one
eats to live. It is were we touch the divine part of ourselves and imitate
our Creator. It can be functional or decorative. It can be practical or
frivolous. It can be conscious or unconscious, but it is always driven by a
need to create.
