0100,0100,0100Hi Gang, My public art display opportunities have usually been limited by number; in which case I select the best work. When it comes to Open House at school in May, I show everything. It's particularly instructive for the parents who have complained about their student's grade (as in who can flunk art?) to see their child's work (or lack of) next to students who have obviously put in effort and pride. I grade with a rubric, which is posted for students to see before we even start. The rubric is heavily slanted towards fulfilling the requirements, craftsmanship and effort. I tell my kids up front that I grade on effort, not much on talent, because native talent is a rare thing, but with effort we can all become good artists.
