caryn,
It has been years since I taught on a cart, and Michal has given you some
real positive and helpful ideas. I just want to add that working from a cart
forces the teacher to be extremely organized. At the beginning of each week,
I placed a note in each teacher's box, letting them know what supplies the
students would need for art that week. Then I cut all the paper I would need
for each class, and each day, stacked these on the cart in the order I would
need them.
Having a room is wonderful, but the downside is all the time a room takes
to maintain. Some days now when there are 4 bulletin boards to decorate,
nine easels in the lobby that need fresh matted artwork on them, and a
teacher's desk to locate under the hoards of paperwork, I look back wistfully
at my cart days. You will learn things this way that will help you when you
do get your room. Good luck.
