An alternative for those who are on outlook and want to use HTML e-mail for
Open contacts, find your address card for artsednet Talk
In the right hand column about 1/2 way down it says e-mail and has a space
to input the e-mail address. Below that box is a check box that says send as
plain text. Check that.
Now when you send an e-mail original email to ArtsEdNet Talk a little menu
will come up. The options are send as plain text, send as HTML, send in both
formats, and cancel.
This way if someone in your house prefers HTML or needs it activated for
another list (The digital photography list I'm on requires HTML mail), they
can have the added features, while you don't have to worry about switching
back and forth.
Note: if you reply to an e-mail from the list that came to you in HTML it
still sends HTML so do watch out for that if you are one individual e-mails.

Subject: Changing mail settings for PC users (Text vs HTML)
This is particularly for frequent posters. Some folks may have sending
messages in HTML as the only option (I don't know how other e-mail services
work). But for those who can choose....this is how to change your settings
if you are a Windows/Microsoft user:
1. Go to Tools (top menu)
2 Select Options -- click on Send tab
3. Click Plain Text
I don't know what MIME means in the Plain Text setting---but it is selected
as the default ---I guess that is something else I can learn.
If you want to change each message as you post (something I would forget to
do)....Go to Format....Select Plan Text - before you send.
We can receive individual mail either way.
NOTE: There was a LOT to scroll through today.....much of it was HTML
garbage---much from what I sent myself yesterday. I may not have read every
word as clearly as I should have in posts that were made yesterday....I did
read every word form Vivian's post and Sharon's posts....and will re-read
again when I have more time. I saved all of those to file. There was a lot
of good material there.
I guess I will see tomorrow how my posts from today came through... I might
learn more about how this program works (my hubby and son are the tech gurus
in my house....I am just a user).
For everyone who uses Road Runner....I highly recommend getting software
that will block "intruders"....Learn from our experience. Block hackers from
getting into your system. Our main computer and lap top were hacked. Even my
students know how to hack into someone else's computer.....That is one skill
they learned from the Web (take the good with the bad).
Talk to you later,
Judy D. (Judith)
P.S. I did learn how to easily save mail from my Mail folders and Inbox to
my documents folders if anyone wants to learn that "skill"
P.P.S. for Maggie White, only.....if you see this....a subtle apology?
