Computers for special area teachers in my elementary
school in Miami is viewed as unnecessary. >:-< I was
determined to get at least as many as every one else
(all teachers have at least three computers in their
room with internet hook up). My room already had the
hook up so it was a matter of doing some real good
collaborative planning having the computers as an
essential part of the lesson! It worked! I planned
with the media specialist on some great lessons
combining literature and art. It was essential to have
computers in my room to do the lesson. The media
specialist just happen to be the one that designates
what computers go where (how convenient!) She 'loaned'
me 4 brand new PC's with hp printers---well, needless
to say, the lessons turned out so well and she really
could see how much art teachers can utilize the
computer that she got approval to keep those computers
in the art room! :-) Now, I'm working on gettings some
other goodies....scanner, digital camera...!
