Sorry I didn't get right back about this. LP Skeen's response is correct. The
crayons work as both resist (to the dye bath) and colorant. You do need to be
sure the melted crayon penetrates the cloth, which means it needs to be hot
enough. This is also true with traditional batik, in which the gutta or
resist must penetrate the cloth in order to contain the dye in the designs
you have planned. I had good luck with it. Give it a try!-judy
