The reasoning was, well maybe without TV, computer
games (all that canned, passive-for-kids stuff) the
children had loads of time to consider, think, play,
invent.
This struck a cord with me. I remembered not too long ago my father told
me that he thought I was "weird", different. When I was little, I rarely
watched television. In evening the family would sit together and watch
television. Except for me. I was outside playing or doing something inside.
Still today I am the same way. Yes, I do get trapped into my soap operas and
mindless sitcoms, but I can't do it for more than an hour or so. I have to
do something else. Generally, I will go sit outside and become absorbed in
the wonder around me. My husband thinks I am crazy. But I remind him who has
the better paying job right now! :)
