Here in NJ I believe it is determined by local
contracts. In my didtrict everyone gets at least 5
preps a week. That doesn't prevent someone from getting
2 preps in one day, it only guarantees 5 a week. This is
my second year in our high school. Last June the powers
that be decided to go to a block schedual. Hardly any
training. We were told it would be better for the
students, but we all know it was to make up for the
lack of teachers. Most of us now teach 6 classes.
I must admit it has made for less confusion in the
halls, and it gives me alot of time to do projects. But
I do get one prep a day, and so does everone else in
    the district.
