Dear Judy,
I liked your ideas about having links to various sites for your students
to use in exploration. Have you done any research on WebQuests or
Filamentality Hunts? Those activities are more student centered and
constructivist in nature. Bernie Dodge, one of the creators of
WebQuests, leads a monthly discussion group at TAPPED IN
(http://www.tappedin.org) Pam Berger of ICONNect (librarians) led a
discussion on Filamentality last month as part of a series on Web tools
and there is an archived transcript of her discussion in the After
School Online Room at TAPPED IN. Filamentality was developed by Tom
March who also worked with Bernie Dodge in developing WebQuests. As
part of my discussion group, ArtSites, one of the netters, Jennifer
Small, lead a discussion on a WebQuest she created based on Colonial
American Art. That transcript is also archived at TAPPED IN. The
