Roberta,
The wire sculpture is a sixth-grade project and they use soft wire that is
easy to bend. I show them how to use the straws for support. For example,
kids have made a swing set out of wire and the wire was threaded thorugh
straws to give the upright sections strength.
BTW, the Snelson site posted, http://www.teleport.com/~pdx4d/snelson.html,
was very nice.

students when they use straws with their wire sculptures. What do their
sculptures then look like ? Do you talk about tensegrity or compression?
Thanks Roberta >>
