    Michal,
Just so you don't feel alone. CAM is located in the Cactus Hotel. They have
weddings, parties, and almost every prom in the area in the 2-story
lobby/ballroom area. People constantly would come in and "borrow" supplies.
When they asked, "can we borrow some glue/tape", I would ask, "Exactly how
are you planning on returning it". They would say, "We'll bring the
bottle/roll back,". I would ask (ok y'all know I am sarcastic sometimes) -
"But how are you going to return the portion you use up" - Blank stares. The
kickers were the people who walked into the museum, past the receptionist
(who would come running in after them), open the cupboards and start piling
up the supplies they wanted. When I told them to put the stuff back and give
them directions to the teacher store or target, they would say "We are
having a party in the lobby, your boss said we could use this" I'd start
laughing (they didn't realize that our landlord is not my boss). I
complained to the building manager about this and some other problems. The
hotel changed its contact to say that the not only that the museum does not
supply decorations or tools but that they are not allowed into our area
except for the walking into the building from the garage and valets are
restricted to the atrium. (The Museum lobby is actually a passageway from
the garage into the main lobby). They loose part of their damage deposit if
they damage anything in our area. The last time someone tore up some
brochures that were on our desk. The manager billed them for 2x what I
asked, because she felt I should have included staff time and trouble
(cleaning up the mess/folding new brochures) into the cost.

I also lock my door during any "decorating" day -
homecoming, dances, etc. - as it seems these days are the worst for
disappearing supplies. I also post a sign that the art dept. is NOT
responsible for supplying anything for their festivities.
On another note, I do have problems with kids coming in to get colored
paper for other classes. Their teachers will send them in to get X number of
sheets of "red" so they can do this project. This burns me - I have let all
teachers know that there is a 10cent charge per piece for paper, plus I have
a sign posted on the door, and still they persist. I have let them know that
they have their own budget to buy what they need, but there are a couple of
teachers who will go get paper while I'm in the elementary . Such a lack of
    respect.
    Michal
