I always tell my students that you can improve your drawing techniques by
practicing drawing. I then ask them how do you improve your basketball
technique?....they always answer "practice"....how do you improve
piano?...."practice"....how do you improve in "dance"....."practice"....etc.
They get the idea quickly. I tell them if they were to practice playing an
instrument for one hour everyday for a year, by the end of the year they
would be pretty good. The same goes for art...."practice makes perfect".
