    I and several teachers in my district save the work in portfolios.
    Portfolios are sent home several times a year with a note preceeding each
    time. Also, I work in a middle school where kids often ask if they can throw
    work away!!! The main art teacher there tells the students her policy. If
    she finds a piece of artwork thrown away or left anywhere in school or
    outside the building she will lower that students grade! It seems to work!!!
     I too had a lot of middle school work left last semester, but that will not
    happen this semester. Different kids, have different motivation, that more
    pride in their work...go figure!
