I take abit different approach. I made a coil coffee cup a couple years ago
to use as an example. I did "everything wrong" on this piece - some coils
have a gap, some semi-smooth, some extremely rough, jagged edges on the
bottom, misshapen handle, ugly pink glaze job with some areas barely covered
and some dripping off the bottom. I made this as an example of what not to
do. The first year I used it as an example I attributed it to a past student
who "just wouldn't listen to anything I said". Of course the kids don't want
to be like "that kid"! Now I tell them at the end of the year that anything
left in the room belongs to me and I can either throw it away, save it to
show as an example, or save it to show "like the pink cup". I had more
artwork taken home than normal! Oh the fear the "pink cup" can bring! *L*
