My personal opinion ( and I teach High School ) is that your room should be an extension of yourself. I think the high school kids still enjoy an enviroment with lots of stimuli for them to look at. I wouldn't change too much. The kids will enjoy any decorating you do.
Another thought is to allow the kids to decorate the room some at the beginning of the school year. This makes them feel that the room is "their" room. Good luck at the High School level. I find it much easier than middle school personally.
