Hi Sandra:
I went back to school to get certified to teach art at the age of 37. I have
never found that my age was a barrier, and am VERY glad that I decided to go
back. I had a bachelor's degree in studio art and art history. So I got my
Master's in Art Ed. Since then, I have taught at the University, local art
museum, took an administrative position with the museum for two years, and
most recently (one year ago) accepted a full time job implementing a pilot
arts integration program at a local school. I'll be 40 in October and love
my job. Don't be discouraged, don't give up and most of all, think of your
age as one of your greatest assets...it was my age and experience that got me
the last job!
