Karen,
My son experienced something similar when he was in high school. It was
crossing the curriculums of English, Social Studies and the Arts. You had to
be selected to get in and it was run by 2 teachers. They would have a
performance every now and then for the students and parents to come and
enjoy. It was set up like a coffee house and they had poetry and skits,
music...I remember making dozens of cookies and other parents brought punch
and soft drinks. The students that did not perform were in charge of serving
the customers. The tables were small and round with red and white
checkerboard table cloths and a flower in a vase on each table. They had
performances all day so everybody could get to see. They dressed up like
beatnics/hippies. It was a lot of fun and they learned a lot too. They also
charged to get in and for the treats. It was not much, but they still made
money because everything was donated. I E-mailed my son and asked him to
recall what the class was all about. I will send it on he responds.
