First I have to say I admire the volunteers who work so hard and give up
their own
free creatiive time to keep all moving smoothly. I know it is a big job and
I am so
thankful that they take it on. I am also a volunteer with art associations so
understand that part . One thing that could be corrected by whomever keeps
track
of the expenses would be to run NAEA more as a business and less as a
voluntary
organization. Dues are paid each year, conference expenses are paid and I
understand there is a hefty savings account (?). Perhaps if NAEA could make
volunteers more wanted and appreciated (instead of the desperate call for
them each year as with the state organizations) then maybe more and better
demostrations and classes would be given. Starting with identification and
continuing with covering some of the costs of a presenter over the expense of
the
materials. Maybe a percentage of the travel or living expenses - a 10%
token of appreciation for Nationals- Some fine presenters have been heard to
complain at my state convention about the money they've spent because of
supplies they gave out over
and above the allotted expense money (state is about $50.00 here in Mo.).
Maybe
this isn;t possible but I strongly feel that as some people have expressed
"our presenters should be shown some sort of courtesy that makes them feel
appreciated
above and beyond their voluntary capacity". Roberta
