Please find out what you can from the previous teacher. She can help you
through the ropes. You may find that thins that were a challenge for her may
be less of one for you. Same in return.

The dollar figure on materials is low for 600 kids-perhaps you need to take
an inventory. But in the mean time, you might want to ask if there are PTA
funds that might be tapped for extra supplies. I have had luck with that.
Thirty minutes from home is a great length of time to collect and organize
your thoughts and/or shift gears from the work "Jan" to the home "Jan".
I am hoping-just got my Masters and celebrate your good fortune!
I have a chance at a job in two different directions from home and both are
    -ironically- 30 minutes from home.
Don't dare worry about shifting down to elementary.
I have done everything from musical interpretations a la Kandinsky
in visual form with oil pastels to statement pieces to share the kids'
    feelings about domestic violence.
These kids can do it all-just give them a chance.
I just don't go into as deeply into art history-although they still know
content-and techniques are at the exploratory stage with many. But they are
    so capable
Let us know how it goes.
