Dear Friends,
I was just offered a job! It is at an intermediate school (1 yr. old)
grades 4,5, & 6. About 750 students. The teacher left b/c she is expecting
her first child and wants to stay home. I have her phone # and may call her
to see what thoughts she may want to share. It was her first year and she
graduated from my college.
I first went to the district office for a screening interview and within
10 minutes he liked me enough to refer me to the Principal. I had to write a
paper answering 3 questions. I then got the secretary to call the Principal
and I went right on to that school while I was out that way. He did offer me
the job and now I need to decide. The only drawback is, it is almost 30
miles from home :( This is my only problem with the job. The principal
seems great.
What are your thoughts? I will be the only art teacher there and
have only a few lesson plans for that age, but am sure I can alter all of
what I know to that level. They will come to me once a week for 50 minutes
and the room is about 600 square feet with some storage. The average class
size is 25. There were some supplies and I think he said I would get EEF
money which was around $500.00. There is a lot of parent support and PTO
support.
I may call the other school tomorrow (It is grades 9-12 and about 19
miles away) to check on that situation. I will talk it over with my husband
tonight. Thanks for all of your support and thoughts.
Janice
