I love my Sony Mavica 83. I have two ways of dealing with the disks
depending on the circumstances.
1. If is a group event (field trip, opening of exhibit, summer for kids
class). I use small post it notes and label it disk1 disk 2 disk3. I load
them into a folder as soon as possible (during mostly grown-up events I set
the computer up in the office and load them as soon as the disk is full)
either way it takes less than a minute using windows explorer (Just
highlight all the pictures using shift and left click and move them to the
correct folder.
2. When I photograph exhibits or individual artists' work. I have my laptop
right there and load them in a folder the same as above and change the name
from the number to the title of the artwork.
I back up pictures and all other data once a week to cd-rom and I archive
pictures to CD-ROM at the end of each exhibit or project, removing them from
my hard drive to save the space.

We have one of those Sony digital Mavica with floppy disk. It's great. We
have done powerpoint presentations, senior bios with pictures for the
senior art show. It's worth it. I've had the one(an apple) that has to be
ocnnected by a cable. Not fun--a definite pain. YOu need a lot of disks
and here's big tip. Label as soon as you finish a disk with the pictures
in numerical order, #1: John's painting of... or #2 Pat's blue bowl etc.
Then you can access easily what you need.
Keep in touch. Fran
