Barb...I'm assuming that the Advantix camera is one where the film has to be
developed. I don't know whether I would say that the Sony is more
advantageous than the film cameras because it would depend on what you plan
to do with it.
For what I do...I like the digital camera better.
It's certainly nice to snap a roll of film, take it to a developer, and go
pick up the photos ready to look at...especially for family gatherings, etc.
But at school...for use in art...I would say I like the digital better.
The other day, I had to finish up my committee book...I head up the School
Beautification committee...which I thought was "hanging pictures around the
school" (remember this is my first year at this HS)...and later found out
that it ALSO entails beautifying the campus...plants, bushes, etc.
Well...I realized that I had not taken any "after" photos of our work...so I
quickly took the Sony out...took the pictures...printed them up and finished
up in my book. If I had had to use the film camera...I would not have had
this advantage.
Probably...the digital camera will NEVER completely replace the film
camera...but each have their advantages.
By the way...we have a scanner that will scan slides...but before I knew we
had it...I would project the slides onto the wall...and use the Sony to take
digital images and put these on my computer in a Power Point presentation.
I'm just very pleased with it.
