Hi Gang!
I still have 13 days left, not counting weekends!
I was wondering how other schools handle holidays.... in the past if
your art was scheduled for monday and that monday happened to be Martin
L. King day and we didn't have school, then you missed it... well this
year all the teachers are getting on me to make up these missed
classes!! It just blew me out of the water, they were saying I wasn't as
dedicated as the computer teacher (she makes up everything, she also has
a para, doesn't do grades, and doesn't deal in grading papers. Just sit
them at the computer.) I teach at a multi track year round school, so
when a bigger track is off (say 2 classes of each grade) and it is
filled by a smaller track, I get a few 45 min. slots that I dedicate to
getting ready for art shows and changing the art at the 5 areas around
the school... in these times, I should make up these days that we didn't
have school......( do they make up the lost teaching time in their
classes??) . I am very dedicated to teaching and ideally would like
them 45 mins every week... what about the times when they don't show up
because they are on a field trip, or having something special in their
classroom and don't come to art..... yet it is all on my shoulders and
my fault!!! This has been extremely frustrating this year, and I was
just wondering how other schools deal with missed specials classes...
thanks for listening,
Sherry in FL
