In the district where I teach, our humanities scores, which are about 7%
of total testing battery, have consistently improved in those schools that
had AIR programs in place. Some of these schools have had these AIR programs
in place for more than 5 years, so there in concrete evidence for the need
for a full time art program on the elementary level. In the school where I
teach (and have been for 4 years) we scored 15% higher than anyone else in
the district and 18% higher than the state norm.

This is largely due to the fact that someone has invested in the child's'
right to learn. Anything I give these kids they seem to be able to
assimilate. They are fascinating and capable. I could go on and on. I love
the elementary level work as if is neither simplistic or without challenge. I
also love to give and receive hugs daily.
