Many thanks to Barbara (Artgotch), Barbara (rboville), Cheryl, Laurie,
Linda K, Mary B, Sharon, and William for posting their ideas for
sketchbook assignments, and Debi for sending some via snail mail. I
finished compiling the posts and then went through the first 60 or so
that came up on a search of the archives, making about a 7 page list. I
was happy to see great ideas that run the gamut from 1st grade through
high school. Some people's messages included info about how they use the
sketchbooks, suggestions for grading, but I concentrated mostly on
"little" ideas that would inspire kids to draw on a regular basis. The
past discussions in the archives ('96 & '97) have quite a few ideas for
MS/HS grading procedures if anyone is interested in that aspect.
Anyway, before I post the compilation, which Teri will also put up at
The Incredible Art Department, thought I'd put out another call for
entries. If you have favorite topics, themes, ideas that will engage
kids in the sketchbook drawing experience, please send them either to
the list or to me privately. After next week I'll be going offline until
after I move and I want to get this out to you before then.
Thanks again everyone!
