Our district introduces simple aerial perspective to 1st and 2nd grades,
more intensive to 3rd grade where they make the transition from schematic to
spatial representations (most, anyway), one point perspective is introduced
in 4th grade, two point is introduced in 5th grade. One point is reviewed
in 6th with a move into more independent decision making and problem solving
that leads to more personal applications of the process. One point is
reviewed in 7th grade, then two point is reviewed with an entire unit
focusing on individual elaboration and combining aerial perspective with two
point. This seems to work fairly well after years of adjustment. We tried
teaching one and two point in 6th grade and the students became confused
with the transition. It seems to come more naturally in 7th grade. Linda
