I'm doing a quick Egyptian art project with a World of Crafts class that I am
teaching this summer. First we discuss hieroglyphics and meaning of symbols.
Then we discuss the meaning of symbols in our life.....letters and pictures
as symbols. Then each students create a sentence from symbols and carves it
with a tooth pick/or pen on the inside of a Styrofoam meat tray. We lean how
to mix plaster and pour it into the trays. When it is dry we remove the
plaster from the tray and the symbols are embossed in the plaster. We paint
the plaster to look like the walls that the hieroglyphics are written on.
Good Luck
