For any of you in the southern California, I want to tell you about an
amazing workshop. The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in LA has a
program it calls "Contemporary Art Start." I attneded the first day of a 3
1/2 day workshop today. We received a curriculum guide with 17 amazing
lessons and 126 slides! A dynamic teacher led us through several
techniques in the morning. In the afternoon, a local artist led us on a
tour of portraits in the museum, and then taught us a figure drawing
activity. As part of the program, MOCA wqill provide us with busses for
two class trips duirng the year, more pre- and post-visit materials, and a
day full of acitivities at the museum for the children. I was very
impressed, and am looking forward to the next few days.

Evidently they've been running this program for 12 years, so if you are in
the area and interested, give them a call.

Hope this helps.
