I cleaned out my garage and was about to throw out lessons and
outlines from a former art teacher. I follow Laura Chapman's "Discover Art"
curriculum grade 2 and I also make transparencies of the teacher's edition.
It's the only book I have from her.
Here is an outline from a former art teacher based on Chapman -
Approaches to art for kindergarten kids:
Media: paint, large brushes, crayons - large, pencils, markers, collage, no
paper mache, plastincine - no ceramics.
Themes: Family, school, home to school, shopping, cleaning, travel, play, TV,
& sports.
Suggested lesson: Secret hiding place: Have one? Is it secret? How do you
feel? What does it look like? Colors, Warm or Cool?
Chapman's whole premise is expanding and exploring the mind of these little
ones with crayons, paint and clay.
