thank you for the responses I have received regarding suggestions for elementary teacher training. This training
will not take place for a while so if you think of something else send it on.

Several months ago I began to collect resources for what I hope to be a useful collection of ideas for using
writing and art together. I am moderating a panel discussion at our state conference in the fall on this
subject and hope to, in cooperation with a local University, offer a workshop for art teachers in the Summer of
1999 focusing further on this topic. So while we are all in our relaxed summer mode before the madness of a new
school year begins.... How do you use writing in art ? This is not the most eloquent way to pose this question
but I am interested in a variety of responses...is it in criticism exercises ? journal writing ? text as a part
of art ? reflection ? to stimulate ideas ? If you don't mind I would appreciate any specific activities you
use or teaching strategies you find helpful. Indicate if you don't mind me sharing them with the other teachers
in Arkansas, I will give you full credit. Thanks for your time and brain power!

It rained one and one-half inches in 40 minutes here this afternoon, course then the sun came out
and Little Rock was like a giant terrarium, nothing like air you can chew.
