I am an elementary teacher who is making the move to middle school next year.
One of the "perks" is that I teach an elective- namely middle school art.

I want to thank everyone for their wonderful ideas, comments and even lessons
during the past two months. Having listened carefully, I asked for certain
changes to the room I am moving into. When I visited my room today, I found
wonderful moveable cupboards that fit into the old "coat closet" complete with
adjustable shelves. The left side cupboard holds 40 soda boxes (one of the
first assignments will be to design a nametag for your soda box) for student
work and the right side is for material storage. The doors to both cupboards
lock separately (to prevent "borrowing"). I have purchased tablecloths for
paint spillage (I have wall to wall carpet) and scrounged large buckets (no
sink either) for water. I am all ready to do the pretzel lesson and the self
portrait the first week. And I have tons of ideas and thoughts for the rest
of the year to go into my Visual/Performing Arts class.

If you saw yourself in the preceeding paragraph, please feel warm all over and
under! I continue to print off letters that address my concerns and will make
my transition less stressful! Having alwasy LOVED elementary art, I am
feeling much better about working with my former students now known as 'The
big kids."

Hope you are all enjoying the summer,
