Rachel,
I teach high school and on the first day of school..when I have my
students give me a copy of their schedule...I ask them to identify their
style of learning. I try to accomodate all learning styles everyday...I
post written objectives for assignments and I post the assignments and in
some cases directions. I usually read these aloud each week. It is valuable
to me also when they say you never told us that...I just go back and show
them the directions.
Also I get grumblers when we read aloud (incidentally, I make my
students read aloud individually ..telling them it is good practice for
parenthood). I remind my grumblers that some of us learn by hearing and
they are more accomodating. Heidi McElroy
