My first day lesson for drawing:
Ask each person to close their eyes and think of their favorite shoe. Do
some guided imagery with them about line, ankle straps, if any, laces, are
the worn? Dress shoes? are they perky and ready to go? Or tired and worn
out?
Then draw their imagined shoe.

Collect their first drawing making sure they are signed and dated.

After that have them close their eyes and put their heads down. Then in the
middle of the table place several kinds of shoes from one's extensive
wardrobe. Have them really take time to study them., again, talk them
through it. Is the space between the toe and ankle a long space? Look at
the edges, or silhouettes of the shoe. Look carefully, study. Now, draw
this shoe. Compare.
