I just got back from today's sessions. All the particiipants come from
various departures some music, some literature, some studio art, some
art education, some art history, some arts appreciation. It is really
interesting to have exposure to lectures and correlated experiences
relavent to American history. This morning we experienced playing a
musical score composed for us by our music professor using percussion
instruments. I was terrified... my music education is very elementary.
This afternoon we experienced an art studio ( using oils and stretched
canvas); and I heard some fearful comments from those who have had
limited opportunity to create art. We are all learning together and the
success in it is not in the product but in the process and experience we
all bring to the table. I was a child this morning and an adult this
afternoon. I think this approach to education has good motivation for
all levels, with modification.
Yesterday doing internet research with the class at a WFU lab, I was
humored to come across an Artsednet discussion heading from last year.
I am doing my research/correlation paper on Red Grooms correlated to
other Post Modernist literature and music. I found a discussion in my
search from Judie J. and others.
We leave for New York in the morning... a class field trip.
