Last week i invited my (seven years) daughter's school fellows to my
ceramic
studio. School is end but they have ludic activities in a Private
Foundation
. I ask them to paint industrial white tiles (15 cmx15cm ), the
same we
usually use for wall kitchens or bathrooms. I explain them the
composition
of glaze and pigments and they understand it was dangerous and why they
must
manipulate it with care. The objective was not tesselations, they draw
flowers, houses and fruits in OxFe, OxCr and Ox. of Cobalt in a 1%
mixture
with water and transparent glaze. I fired it in the kiln(1100 ) as i
used
to do. The final results is really beautiful: it is a large composition
with coherent images with a wide varity of forms in the balance done
by
colour repetition. I had done tesselation templates in those tiles with
secondary students and it is totally different , the secondary level in
the
great majority, takes it in a geometrical approach by choosing
elementary
shapes because it is more fast and easy to do.
