art gallery/shops

I will be traveling with my family for 3 weeks and would like to hear
from anyone who has been to any interesting shops, discount art supplies,
art galleries, and must-see unusual-type-things and places that we
should visit. We are aware of the "tourist" things. But I know somebody
has been or seen something that not everybody knows about.

We are starting from Kansas City, some of our overnight stays will be at
WASHINGTON, D.C., WILLIAMSBURG, VA, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, GATTLINBURG, TN
(Smokey Mountain region), NASHVILLE, TN. Our driving plan has not been
planned out, so - if you know of somewhere we should go let me know.
