Are you familiar with Scott McCloud's "Understanding Comics"?. I use it as
the text in my University class - Visual Literacy. McCloud does a
remarkable job of combining words and images...and gives the history of
their development. It is far more than a book about 'comics' - I recommend
it to every art teacher..every teacher!. It was originally published by
Kitchen Sink Press
but is now with one of the BIG publishers..my copy is on campus..will
send another message tommorrow. .
One of my students said it was the first time he ever read a text from
cover to cover before the class began. It is a visual treat!
You're sure to get some ideas for expanding your student's vision/talent.
