Dear Ones:
Because I care deeply about the arts- all of them - I am very much
concerned about the ongoing attempts to destroy the Natl Endowment, most
especially the current tidal wave in the US Senate. If anyone else on here
is also concerned, please take appropriate action and write, e-mail, phone,
fax, or otherwise buttonhole your Senator, even if it happens to be Jessie
Helms. What do they want us to be, a nation of complete dolts? How do the
arts get into rural and poor communities if not helped by the government?
Private corporations are willing and able to do a certain amount. What
functions DOES the government have with these guys, anyhow? Collecting
taxes and paying them? It just disgusts me. The big, powerful USA, number
ONE in what? Ear biting? Car racing? Basketball? Quarterback bashing?
whoopee. A nation of Fools.
Dismayed,
